I got to thinking about Budweiser and Busch beers. Both are made from the same company. Bud is more expensive than Busch, but from recent taste tests, I can't taste the difference. So I wonder what the point of having the two different brands are.
What if Busch became more popular? Would the price of Busch beer and Budweiser flip flop? Instead of paying $10 for a 12 pack of Bud, what if they made Busch the $10 a 12 pack beer? Would everybody start buying Busch because they didn't want to be known as someone who bought the cheaper beer?
Don't you think Busch is there just to make money from people who can't afford to buy Budweiser? Really, what's the difference?

The reason people buy the higher price item is to show their social standing. If you buy all the higher priced items, than you are affluent and therefore people will look up to you. Isn't that stupid? I have seen people pay twice the amount for a certain brand of product simply because they wanted all to know that they always buy the best. They put fancy soaps in dishes in their bathrooms, but you are not allowed to use these, oh my! I made that mistake once and it was not appreciated. It was an innocent mistake. Why put these small soaps out if you can't use them? People feel that if they buy the higher priced item and display it in their home than others will envy them and look up to them. Products are priced on there demand. If as you say Busch becomes "the in thing" probably the price will go up. People are slaves to the degree that they must keep up with the "Jones" or they are not going to be allowed in the "in" crowd.
